The 4 stages of content burnout (and how to beat them)
It’s week 3. You’ve posted 9 times. No leads. No traction. Now what?
I’ve seen this more times than I can count.
I call it The 4 Stages of Content Burnout. The cycle goes like this:
1 - Uninformed optimism
“This is going to be great. We’ll post, we’ll get leads, we’ll grow.”
You’re fired up. The ideas are flowing.
2 - Informed pessimism
“Wait… this is harder than I thought.”
You realise this isn’t so easy after all. Engagement is unpredictable. Results are slower than expected.
3 - Crisis of meaning
“Maybe this doesn’t work for us.”
You doubt the strategy. You start thinking about stopping. Or switching platforms. Or running ads instead.
What happens next decides everything.
Most quit and start over. But a few persist.
They figure out the hooks.
The angles. The small details.
They are the ones that reach the final stage of the cycle – informed optimism.
They are the ones who win.
If you're in that place now – wondering if it’s worth continuing – maybe this is your reminder to keep going.
You might be three posts away from your best one yet.
Until next week, with warm regards,
