Don't turn into your grandma!

You know how you make fun of your grandma for not knowing how to use some app?

Careful – a lot of us are turning into her right now.

I remember when the iPhone first came out.

My grandma made a decision: “I’m done learning new tech.”

My grandpa, however, decided to lean in.

↳ He got himself a laptop.

↳ Then a smartphone.

↳ And eventually, even an iPad.

One of his big passions is Jazz.

(We once recorded our own ‘single’ 😄)

By embracing tech, he discovered old records on Spotify. He found rare performances on YouTube.

He discovered YouTube. Spotify. FaceTime.

Old memories, favourite songs, and distant friends all came back into his life.

Curiosity made his life richer. No question.

I see the same thing happen in marketing all the time.

↳ “Social media is a fad.”

↳ “Personal branding is just for influencers.”

↳ “TikTok is for teenagers dancing.”

And now… AI.

We dismiss new things way too quickly.

Purely based on our own subjective opinions.

Here’s what I remind myself of:

“Before you say no – say maybe!”

Explore.

Experiment.

Stay open.

Let’s be more like my grandpa!
